The good news comes from the Utrecht City government. The Eid al-Adha prayer committee received it on Friday afternoon, July 16, 2021 and we were given permission to carry out Eid al-Adha prayers during this pandemic.
The permit was accompanied by various directions and rules according to the health protocol during the pandemic, from the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Indonesian Muslim community in Utrecht, who are members of the SGB-Utrecht association, were finally able to carry out the Eid al-Adha prayer 1442 H, on Tuesday, 20 July 2021 on a football field.
It is not without reason that the Indonesian Muslim community in the City of Utrecht-Netherlands held the Eid al-Adha prayer this year on a football field, to be precise at the Sportcomplex Overvecht-Noord (Voetbalvereniging VVJ), Manitobadreef 4 Utrecht. The main reason for relocating the place for Eid prayers is because the prayer room rented by the Indonesian Muslim community in Utrecht who is a member of the New Generation Stichting (SGB), in the past few years has been unable to accommodate the growing congregation.
Another reason, of course, relates to health protocols during the corona pandemic. Congregants who will attend are encouraged to register in advance via the registration link provided by the committee.
The number of congregants is limited to no more than 200 people. We are advised to keep our distance during prayer. Towards 08.00 in the morning the congregation began to arrive at the location of the Eid al-Adha prayer, greeted with the echo of takbir led by Ananda Aufa.
Next, the host, Mas Dawam, delivered announcements and a series of Eid al-Adha prayers. Then the remarks from the activity committee, who explained and at the same time also reported activities related to the funds deposited by the SGB congregation for the worship of slaughtering Qurban animals, which were then distributed through three social institutions in Indonesia, namely Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), Human Initiatieve, and Yakesma.
Prior to the prayer, Ustadz Winarna Aboe Farid as the prayer priest, as well as acting as katib, gave an explanation of the procedures for the Eid al-Adha prayer in Indonesian and Dutch. Eid prayers and Eid al-Adha sermons with the theme “Patience”, took place from 08.35 to 09.10 CET.
Towards the end of the event, Mas Rihan announced the progress of the SGB Heaven House Project. The chairman of SGB-Utrecht Mr. Supardi Hasanudin, once again invites Indonesian Muslims to participate and work together to realize the beautiful dream of establishing a mosque and Indonesian cultural center in Utrecht.
He also did not forget to urge the congregation and anyone who wants to contribute to donate either in the form of infaq, alms or waqf for the mosque. Please visit the following link: www.donasi.generationbaru. The whole series of events ended around 10.30 am. Grateful that during this pandemic, congregational prayers are still allowed. Happy Eid Al-Adha 1442 H.
