Netizens were again annoyed with public figures who were on vacation during Emergency PPKM. This time the Instagram account of Airlangga Hartarto’s son-in-law was the target.

This commotion started with a post on the Twitter account @AREAJULID and several other social media accounts on Wednesday (14/7/2021) which featured the Instastory of an account which was later discovered to be @racheltheresia. Rachel Theresia is a content creator and also the wife of Audi, son of Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.

In the Instastory, there are photos of a number of suitcases and a man with a mask. The post included the caption “The minister’s son went on a honeymoon abroad during Indonesia PPKM. Does he not believe in his own father’s performance?”.

Seeing the post, netizens gave various opinions. Some questioned the location of sympathy from the official’s family. There are also those who do not want to bother with their actions.

“I’m confused about where the problem is?? It’s really okay to travel abroad, the conditions are PCR, vaccines and quarantine for at least 10 days there. Everyone can also if they want to go abroad,” said @proud******** **

“The problem is that it’s still an emergency, the food stalls were raided and told to close, but he just went out of the country for a honeymoon like nothing happened,” replied @sourp*******

“It’s so nice for him to walk, I’m tired of looking at white walls all the time, wow,” said @gani*****

“Meanwhile, maybe more than half of the Indonesian population are still confused about what to eat tomorrow because of the policies of your father and your father’s friends,” said @timo*********

Meanwhile, watching detik.com on Rachel’s Instagram account, the comment column has also been invaded by netizens.

“The official’s son doesn’t know himself, there is no empathy,” said @afte*********

“Sis, spill it feels like a vacation to Japan in the middle of Emergency PPKM,” said @cuma************

“Sis, is it good, Sis on vacation? Forgot that the country itself has a high case? Er, forgot that the father has a position,” said @sepe************

Until this news is revealed detik.com still trying to contact Rachel and Audi regarding this, but have not received confirmation from both of them.

Travelers from Indonesia are actually still allowed to enter Japan as long as they follow a 10-day quarantine after arriving in Japan, then follow a 14-day self-isolation. Before there was a second wave of Corona in Indonesia, the quarantine period was enough for 6 days.

Tokyo itself is currently under a state of emergency by the Japanese government. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in his press statement (Thursday, 8/7, 18.00 Japanese time/16.00 WIB) re-imposed the State of Emergency (SoE) or a state of emergency for the Tokyo area from July 12 to August 22, 2021. SoE for the Prefecture Okinawa has also been extended to August 22, 2021.

Citing the website of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, this policy is the fourth SoE taken by Japan. This is an effort to suppress the surge in Covid-19 infections in the last 2 (two) weeks in the Tokyo area, even reaching 920 cases on July 7, 2021.

During this SoE period, the Japanese Government urges restaurants and bars not to serve alcohol and operate until 8 pm. The presence of people in social activities is limited to 50% of the capacity of the place.
