Borobudur Temple will be temporarily closed, from 8-17 May 2021. This is to anticipate the transmission of the Corona virus during the ban on going home.
A different atmosphere can be seen at Borobudur Temple, Magelang Regency, Central Java, today, Saturday (8/4/2021). Usually, the heritage building of the Syailendra dynasty is crowded with tourists from various regions, but today it is deserted.
The lonely atmosphere in the super priority tourist destination of Borobudur Temple is due to a temporary closure. The main entrance has a banner announcing the temporary closure.
As for the written announcement ‘Temporary Closure Of Borobudur to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (Persero) announced that the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park will be temporarily closed from 8-17 May 2021’.
The temporary closure was carried out by the manager of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park to follow up from the SE Regent of Magelang No: 443.5 / 1729 / 01.01 / 2021. In the SE, it is stated that areas with a red zone and an orange zone, tourist destinations are closed. Meanwhile, Magelang Regency is in the orange zone.
The Temporary Deputy General Manager of Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Jamaludin Mawardi, said that the management of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Prambanan and Ratu Boko, through the Covid-19 Task Force, Taman Wisata Candi received a circular letter from the Regent of Magelang.
In the letter, one of them stated that tourist destinations in the orange and red zone were closed for community activities as well as tourist activities.
“In line with that in accordance with the direction of the President Director through the Task Force, we at the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park are also doing the same thing. So, starting today, May 8, 2021 to May 17, 2021, the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park will temporarily take approximately 10 days. closed not accepting tourist visits, “said Jamal when met at Borobudur Temple, Saturday (8/5/2021).
The closure was carried out, said Jamal, as a form of the Temple Tourism Park’s seriousness in supporting the government efforts of both the Magelang Regency government, Central Java Province and the central government in preventing the spread of Covid-19 in tourist destinations, especially in Magelang Regency.
“For approximately 10 days we are not operating, we also continue to make efforts that are routinely carried out, for example, ‘how should we keep security, patrol the area, clean the land and then clean it we have to do it while waiting for our 10 day period of not operating,’ “he said.
“Hopefully, after May 17, May 18, we will allow all facilities, infrastructure, and supporting facilities for tourism to Borobudur to be ready again,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT TWC Edy Setijono added, PT TWC as the manager of zone II of Borobudur Temple supports this policy by conducting operational closings during the Eid holiday.
“This step is taken as an effort to prevent the transmission and spread of Covid-19 in tourism destinations. The central government’s ban on going home is an effort to avoid crowds at destinations so that it is feared that it could create new clusters,” he said.
“Of course we are very concerned about this condition, but we will continue to support this rule so that this condition is over and the world of tourism will quickly recover,” said Edy.
