Bali Governor Wayan Koster accompanied by the Chairperson of the Bali Province TP PKK Ny. Putri Suastini Koster, Chairperson of the Bali Province Women’s Organization Cooperation Agency (BKOW), Ny. Tjokorda Putri Hariyani Ardhana Sukawati and the Chairman of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Bali Province, Ny. Widiasmini Indra opened a cheap market activity to welcome Galungan and Kuningan Day which took place at the Bali Governor’s Office, Jalan Basuki Rahmat 1 Niti Mandala Denpasar, Tuesday (6/4).

This cheap market which lasts for two days from April 5 to 6, 2021, is organized by the synergy of three female organizations in the Bali Provincial Government, namely the Bali Provincial TP PKK, Bali Province Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) and the Bali Province Women’s Organization Cooperation Agency (BKOW).

In his brief direction, Governor Koster expressed his appreciation for the implementation of cheap market activities ahead of the Galungan and Kuningan holidays which fall on April 14 and 24, 2021. He considered that this cheap market activity was a very positive thing because it aims to help ease the burden on society in the midst of a pandemic. “I think this is very good, a form of siding with local Balinese products. In the future, I will continue to encourage craftsmen to be more active in production. On the other hand, we continue to encourage the community to buy products produced by Balinese craftsmen, ”he added while saying that Balinese weaving has a variety of distinctive motifs.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Bali Province TP PKK, Ny. Putri Suastini Koster specifically expressed her gratitude to DWP and its staff for having initiated the implementation of a cheap market to welcome Galungan and Kuningan holidays. TP PKK Bali Province supports this cheap market event and hopes that its implementation can make it easier for employees in the Bali Provincial Government to get their needs before the holidays. More than that, this activity also helps to drive the community’s economy because various necessities are sold in this cheap market.

He invited employees within the Bali Provincial Government to buy necessities ahead of the holiday at the cheap market. On the sidelines of the review, Mrs. Putri Koster also reminded traders not to use plastic bags in serving buyers.

The implementation of the low-cost market takes place with strict application of health protocols. Every visitor is required to wear a mask and keep a distance. In order not to cause crowds, the committee arranged a visiting schedule for each OPD. In addition to selling basic necessities and offerings, cheap markets also provide clothing products in the form of traditional Balinese weaving, namely endek and songket.
